The Salisbury swim teams competed at the Kinney Natatorium Open Invitational last Saturday at Bucknell University.
The meet featured several of the state’s top high school swim programs. The Falcons boys team placed third out of 23 schools with 65 points, finishing just behind perennial state contenders North Penn (134 points) and Radnor (67 points). Salisbury’s girls team finished 13th as a team.
Mahlon Reihman set a team record with a 1:00.0 in the breaststroke while finishing a close second to the defending Class 2A state champ in the event, Bloomsburg’s Jonah Crawford (59.90).
Reihman also took first place in the 50 freestyle and was part of a medley relay team that took first place and set a team record at 1:38.34.
The record-setting relay foursome included Daniel Bonge, Arthur Oliver, Reihman and Ben Wiener. Bonge won two individual events at the meet, taking first in the 200 freestyle (1:44.15) and butterfly (51.79).
The Falcons swam to several personal-best times at the meet and every Salisbury swimmer had a season’s best time in at least one event, including Sarah Bobeck (100 free, 200 free); Bonge (200 free, 100 fly); Madaket Chassard (500 free, 200 IM); Cathryn Fitzsimmons (50 free, 100 back); Oliver (50 free, 100 breaststroke); Reihman (50 free, 100 breaststroke); Brooke Rogers (50 free); Timothy Sechler-Stone (100 free, 100 back); and Ben Wiener (500 free).
