Anne (Zinn) Dougherty and Percy Dougherty recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Anne is originally from Springfield, Delaware County, and Percy is from Kennett Square, Chester County, but they have lived in Shepherd Hills, Lower Macungie Township, for 30 years.
They met in dance class at West Chester University and visited Longwood Gardens on their first date.
Anne and Percy were married at Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton, Md.
The 50th anniversary festivities were held at St. Thomas More Hall with 124 friends and family attending.
During cocktails and appetizers, guests viewed poster boards with photos from every year of the couple’s marriage.
After a sit-down dinner, participants danced the night away to music by deejay Freddie Frederick Jr.
The day following the reception, the Doughertys were joined by their family on a cruise to the Caribbean.
Percy is a retired Kutztown University professor. He teaches wine classes at Northampton Community College and is a Lehigh County commissioner.
Anne is retired from Day-Timers, where she managed 25 agents.
They have two sons, Tom and Bob Dougherty.
Tom and his wife, Susan, live in Ohio. Bob and his wife, Robin, live in Alburtis and are parents of Anne and Percy’s two grandsons, Aidan and Samuel Dougherty.
