The music of Mary Poppins comes to Country Meadows

During the holiday season, concerts for school age and high school performers abound, but at Country Meadows of Allentown retirement community, 430 N. Krocks Road, Upper Macungie Township, its seniors prepared a holiday performance for family and friends.

The performance was given as part of the holiday open house for family and friends Dec. 10, 2016, at the retirement community.

Residents sang a medley of songs from the musical, “Mary Poppins,” including: the favorite “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Feed the Birds,” “It’s a Jolly Holiday,” “Spoon Full of Sugar,” and “Let’s Go Fly a Kite.”

The performance was a medley of songs. There were no spoken lines.

Ellwyn Spiker and Marie DalMaso had the leading roles of “Bert” and “Mary.”

Residents and co- workers spent months preparing for the production, including scenery, props and costumes.

“It brought staff and residents together ... working together, laughing together and singing together,” Martie Haller, director of marketing with Country Meadows emailed The Press. “It brought back many fond memories and it was a rewarding experience for all.”
