Holly Diehl
Q: In what grade are you in?
A: I am in the 12th grade at Emmaus High School,
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: Art is by far my favorite. It’s my Ephesians 3:20, I am not supposed to be able to do art very well with the visual impairments I struggle with, but somehow I am able to see beyond them when I do art. I cannot really explain it, or what happens that makes me see differently, but somehow I do. Through Emmaus’s art program I have not only been able to utilize lots of supplies, but also the invaluable help and guidance of such talented and amazing teachers.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: I am a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and a recipient of the Hope and Healing art award.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: After school I work part time at Wegmans as a cashier and on the selling team. I also teach a Pioneer Girls group at my church and am a student leader in my youth group. Over the summers, I have been blessed to go on and sometimes student-lead local and international mission trips. I also am involved in many art competitions throughout the year.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: I will be studying at a college to become an industrial designer. Industrial designers work to innovate and create products, vehicles, furniture and architecture. My dream would be to combine my love for ministry and design and be able to design for humanitarian purposes.
Q: What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?
A: The past two summers I have been able to visit and minister at the Bible Fellowship churches in Mexico and the Czech Republic. These were amazing opportunities that I was blessed to be a part of, but it was so hard to say goodbye. I became so close with teenagers in both countries and some of my students from English lessons in Czech. Even though parts of my heart stayed with them there, saying goodbye was still incredibly difficult.
Q: For what would you like to be remembered?
A: I would like to be remembered as the girl who always had a smile for everyone. Hopefully when people see me, they will get a sense of my favorite Bible verse which is 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in love.”
Q; Who is in your family?
A: My mom, Sharon. my dad, Kevin, my brother, Warren, my cat, Chloe and my dog, Elvis.
Q: Whom do you admire? Why?
A: I admire my mentor Mrs. Fitting. She is my prayer warrior and has been by my side since eighth grade and I can always count on her for advice, prayer and knowledge. I hope that I will someday be able to give to others the support and unconditional love she gives to me.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: Take advantage of all the classes you can in high school. Try a little bit of everything while its free.
