State Police Beat

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Justin A. Turner, 25, of Kempton, was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner SUV 6:46 p.m. Dec. 26 on Sell Road, east of Bluebird Road, Lowhill Township, when it struck a 2015 Lincoln Navigator driven by Joanne E. Mazzucco, 46, of Schnecksville.

According to police, Turner was eastbound on Sell Road going down hill when he began to lose control of his vehicle as it slid on the icy roadway.

The 4Runner slid into the oncoming lane where it struck the Lincoln that was traveling in the opposite direction.

The Navigator then struck a mailbox at 5430 Sell Road before it went into a ditch on the north side of the roadway where it came to rest.

The 4Runner continued traveling east on Sell Road and struck an embankment on the south side of the road, before coming to a final rest in the eastbound lane facing north, police say.

Police say Mazzucco suffered a possibly injury and Turner’s passenger, Sarah A. Turner, 22, of Kempton, suffered a suspected minor injury.

Turner and an infant from Kempton, who was in a child safety seat in his vehicle and Mazzucco’s passenger Michael P. Mazzucco, 20, of Schnecksville were not injured, police say.

Both drivers and all adult passengers were wearing seat belts, police say.

Both vehicles were removed by Hauser’s Towing.

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say a vehicle traveling on Route 309, Lynn Township, struck the wood and wire fence belonging to Bear Rock Junction, Route 309 and Mountain Road, sometime between 5 p.m. Dec. 25 and 4 p.m. the next day.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling north on Route 309 when it left the roadway to the right at the corner of Route 309 and Mountain Road, and struck the fence.

The vehicle then traveled approximately 20 feet into a field.

Police say tire marks from the vehicle traveling through the fence to where it stopped near a ditch were seen.

According to police, it appears the driver then backed up before traveling west toward Route 309, striking another part of the wire fence before traveling back onto Route 309.

Police say from the fragments left behind, the vehicle may be a silver Buick, unknown make or model.
