Roundup: Liberty tops Parkland in Trojan’s tournament

Liberty-Parkland

The Hurricanes beat the hosts 72-64 in the first round of Parkland’s tournament.

Liberty was led by Jeremy Johnson’s 31 points, which included a 10-for-10 effort from the free throw line. Cameron Hoffman added 11 points for Liberty, while Amir Griffin chipped in with 10.

Parkland was led by Sam Iorio with 26 points.

Emmaus-Springfield Delco

Emmaus cruised to a 74-58 win over Springfield Delco in the first round of Allen’s holiday tournament.

David Kachelries scored a game-high 26 points for Emmaus (6-0 overall), while teammate Matt Kachelries and Zach Sabol had 13 points each. Sabol also pulled down 14 rebounds in the game.

Springfield was led by Ja’Den McKenzie with 14 points.

Northampton-Saucon Valley

The Konkrete Kids beat the Panthers 51-49 in the first round of the Salisbury Holiday Tournament.

Morgan Heffelfinger scored a game-high 27 points for Northampton.

The Kids will play Salisbury or Quakertown in Wednesday’s tournament title game at 8 p.m. at Salisbury High School. Saucon Valley will play in the consolation game at 6 p.m.

Quakertown-Salisbury

The host Falcons lost on a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Quakertown’s Kevin Juszynski that gave the Panthers a 47-44 win the Salisbury’s annual holiday tournament.

Matt Lucas led Quakertown with 14 points, while the game-winner was Juszynski’s only basket of the game.

Salisbury was led by Jack Reichenbach with 15 points and Jaxon Costello with 14 points, while Blake Jones chipped in with 10.

The Tigers beat the Hawks 65-43 in a nonleague game.

Northwestern was led by 20 points from sophomore point guard Sam Yadush, who hit six three-pointers in the game. Trevor Cunningham added 15 and Deven Bollinger scored 10 points for Northwestern.

The Tigers improved to 4-2 overall.

The Falcons beat the 36-9 Lynx in the first round of the Salisbury Holiday Tournament.

Kelly Gardus (8 points), Sarah McGee (7 points), Caylin Meikrantz (6 points), Olivia Hoeing (5 points) and Alicia Burkhardt led a balanced Salisbury scoring effort.

The Falcons meet Allen in Wednesday’s tournament final at 3 p.m. at Salisbury High School. The Chicks beat Pocono Mountain West 63-38. The Panthers will face Oley Valley in the tournament’s consolation game at 1 p.m.
