Carol Jane Kreitz, 70, of Bethlehem, died Dec. 18, 2016, at home. She was the wife of William C. Kreitz for 46 years.
Born in Allentown, she was the only child of the late Paul J. Smith and the late Renae P. (Leibenguth) Smith.
She graduated from Parkland High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in elementary guidance and counseling from Kutztown State College.
She was an elementary teacher for 21 years at Governor Wolf Elementary School and, prior to that, a homebound instructor for three years with Bethlehem Area School District, from which she retired in 1998. She was earlier a teacher for six years at New Hanover-Upper Frederick Elementary School, Boyertown School District.
She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ, Bethlehem, since 1999. She was previously a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Northampton, where she was baptized, confirmed and married.
She was a member of the NEA, the PSEA-R, PASR and College Hill Moravian Tai Chi practice group.
She participated in a book club.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by cousins.
