Garden club spreads cups full of Christmas joy with flowers

A local garden club will be spreading Christmas joy to 400 Valley residents this year with some unique floral arrangements.

“The Allentown Garden Club had instituted a community project several years ago to provide a bit of Christmas cheer to the clients of the Meals on Wheels program,” said Janice Geider, president of the garden club. “Following through on our previous success of spreading Christmas joy, we continue this year to provide a Christmas coffee cup holding a floral arrangement to every client.”

Geider said with 400 Meals on Wheels clients, the garden club put out an alert to its members and friends to gather 400 coffee cups from attics, basements, yard and craft sales.

“Our success has been overwhelming and the lovely stories that relate to these mugs and the sharing of them for the cause is most heartwarming,” she explained.
