STUDENT OF THE WEEK
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I am in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.
Q: What is your favorite subject? Why?
A: My favorite subject would definitely be biology because of the immense variety and scope of information it provides. From animal behavior to cellular processes, biology offers a flexibility and explanation for life’s structures I appreciate and find fascinating.
Q: Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A: As captain of the girls tennis team, I received the Player’s Player Award and am an Emmaus Scholar Athlete and nominee for EPC and District XI Scholar Athlete. I am also a member of National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society.
Q: Are you involved in any extracurricular activities?
A: I am an officer of Interact Club and am also involved in chamber orchestra, District XI orchestra, Lehigh Valley Health Network Volunteer and Health and Wellness Fitness Club.
Q: What is your next goal after high school?
A: After high school, I hope to finish a degree in neuroscience, attend medical school and eventually become a pediatric neurologist.
Q: What would you say your biggest challenge has been so far?
A: My biggest challenge is managing my time wisely and productively without completely missing out on spontaneous high school experiences.
Q: What do you want to be remembered for?
A: I hope I am remembered as a honest, loyal and affable friend with a good work ethic and strong convictions.
Q: Who is in your family?
A: My father Norman, my mother Frieda and my sister Ingrid.
Q: Do you have someone you look up to?
A: My sister Ingrid has always been my best friend and role model. Her unshakable perseverance and achievements as a pharmacist inspire me to work toward my goals and reach the high standards she set.
Q: Do you have any advice for your peers?
A: As college application season looms, it is easy to let arbitrary factors such as GPA or standardized test scores overwhelm and minimize your confidence. My advice for my peers would be to not rely on perceived failures or successes to determine or define your self-worth and happiness.
