District Attorney Jim Martin announced an employee at the Coopersburg Post Office has been charged with theft.
Erica R. Harley, 35, of 27 Evelyn Lane, Milford Township, Bucks County, was charged with one count each of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received, theft by deception and receiving stolen property, all felonies of the third degree.
Harley was arraigned Nov. 9 at Central Booking.
On June 27, the Coopersburg Police Department was contacted by Special Agent Stergios Symeonidis of the United States Postal Service Office of the Inspector General. Special Agent Symeonidis relayed he was investigating thefts totaling $2,809.21, which occurred at the Coopersburg Post Office between January 2015 and June.
Failed audits and stamp inventory alerted the Office of the Inspector General, which initiated video surveillance May 9 to June 9. The surveillance was focused on the window of Erica Harley. The video allegedly showed Harley manipulating the cash register system, stealing and commingling postal funds.
As in every criminal case, the fact that an arrest has occurred or a complaint has been filed is merely an accusation; and the defendant, Erica R. Harley, is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
