Board selects officers

A reorganization meeting of the Salisbury Township School Board was held Dec. 7 at the district’s administration building. After the Pledge of Allegiance, members of the Salisbury School Board took roll call and noted School Board Vice President Samuel DeFrank was not in attendance.

As protocol for the reorganization meeting, members elect a temporary board president to open the election of officers, take nominations and hear motions for approval of the seat of the president. Board members elected Mary Ziegler as the temporary board president. Ziegler thanked the board and asked for nominations for board president.

George Gatanis and Susan Lea nominated incumbent Frank Frankenfield for the seat of the president of the school board and the board voted unanimously to retain Frankenfield. Frankenfield accepted the nomination and thanked the board for their “confidence and support.”

Following the election for the president, temporary board president Ziegler turned the election process over to President-Elect Frankenfield who then asked members for nominations for school board vice president.

Gatanis and Carol Klinger nominated incumbent Vice President Samuel DeFrank. As in the case of the board president, members voted unanimously to re-elect DeFrank as the vice president.

Other business at the meeting included approval by board members for the dates of the school board meetings for the 2017 calendar year. The meetings are open to the public and are listed on the district’s website.
