State Police Troop L Hamburg say Theresa M. Mikosky, 60, of Kempton, was driving a 2009 Nissan Murano along Krumsville Road, north of Snyder Road, Albany Township, when it struck a deer 5:40 p.m. Dec. 2.
Police say the deer ran out from the east side of the road and Mikosky slammed on her brakes but struck the deer.
According to police, Carrie Kaltwasser, 58, of Kempton, who was driving a 2008 Lexus RX350 behind Mikosy was apparently following too closely.
She was unable to stop and her SUV struck the Nissan in the rear.
After impact, both drivers, who were wearing seat belts, pulled their vehicles to the east berm.
No injuries were reported, police say.
Police did not provide information on the condition of the deer.
