An Allentown woman was fatally injured Dec. 5 in a chain reaction traffic accident on Route 222 South, 0.2 miles north of Krocks Road, in Lower Macungie Township.

According to a press release from the Lehigh County Coroner, Fay A. Parry, 81, of 100 Ramapo Trail, Allentown, was pronounced dead at the crash scene 2:40 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Richard Pender.

An autopsy to determine manner and cause of death was scheduled Dec. 6.

Parry was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Michael George, 47, of Rio Rancho, N.M., according to Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville, Parry was described as a rear passenger in the vehicle.

Several injuries, none fatal, also were reported as a result of the crash.

According to police, Gary Pellegrino, 65, of White Plains, N.Y., was driving a commercial vehicle, traveling south on Route 222, just north of Krocks Road, when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to stop for slowing and stopped traffic at the traffic light at Krocks Road, resulting in a chain reaction crash involving five additional vehicles. The crash happened about 2:12 p.m.

Other vehicle operators involved in the crash were Andrew M. Profit, 52, of Stokesdale, N.C.; Clarence C. Hausman, 59, of Breinigsville, Cayeligh L. Butz, 20, of Alburtis and Daniel Louie V. Ajero, 20, of Whitehall.

All vehicles involved in the crash were towed from the scene by Hauser’s Towing and impounded pending further investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
