LOWHILL TOWNSHIP Holiday events offered at LV Zoo

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, and Christmas Décor is offering its third season of its Winter Light Spectacular 5:30-10 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays until Jan. 1, 2017.

Guests will experience eight distinctly-themed display areas, popular holiday movies, a new Grinch Whoville scene setting and more.

Joanna Bertalan from Walt Disney World in Florida will become Elsa on the Zoo’s new Elsa ice stage.

She will sing Dec. 8, 9, 15, 16, 21, 23 and 30.

There will also be church choirs that will walk the zoo, singing favorite holiday carols on select dates during the Winter Light Spectacular.

Everyone is invited to stop by the Bison Auditorium and have a photo taken with Santa Claus.

Special treat stations throughout the Zoo will feature s’mores, hot chocolate, hot dogs, sausage and more.

There will be no shows Christmas Eve and Christmas.

The Zoo has partnered with Lehigh Carbon Community College to enable parking and shuttle service from Lot B parking lot.

Dates of service are Dec. 9, 10, 16, 17 and 23.

Trip times will be continuous 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with two school bus shuttles running on staggering time frames.

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, will host Kathy Haas, who will perform a Christmas Handbell solo at the 9 a.m. service Dec. 11.

Breakfast with Santa will be 8-11 a.m. Dec. 17.

The church will be participating in the Nationwide Wreaths Across America program noon Dec. 17.

Ceremony will include military flag presentation, 21-gun salute by Allen O. Delke Post 16 of Slatington, and laying of wreaths on the graves of all veterans buried in Morgenland Cemetery.

Wreath sponsorship is a fee per wreath or a monetary contribution.

The Sunday School Christmas play will be presented during the service 9 a.m. Dec. 18

Remembrance Tree Balls are available for purchase until Dec. 18.

Choose between red, blue, green, silver, gold or gold star.

Order forms are available in the church narthex.

The Adult Singing Choir and the Adult Handbell Choir will perform 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 24.
