St. LUKE’s Singers
The St. Luke’s Singers presented the ensemble’s annual Christmas concert, entitled “By Candlelight,” at Wesley Methodist Church, 2540 Center St., Bethlehem, Nov. 27.
The prelude to the concert included selections from St. Luke’s brass quartet, flautist Dave Hein and accompanist Brian C. Snyder playing traditional and contemporary holiday selections.
It was followed by the first half of the concert which featured traditional sacred selections including “A Star Shall Rise Up Out of Jacob,” by Felix Mendelssohn and “Star Carol” by John Rutter. Howard Helvey’s arrangement of “Angels We Have Heard on High,” complete with four-handed accompaniment was featured as well as “Rise Up Shepherds,” highlighted by bassist Tom Mondschein.
In the second half of the program, the singers presented holiday favorites and traditional carols including “The Christmas Song,” “Let it Snow!” and “Fum Fum Fantasy.”
Since 1991, the St. Luke’s Singers have raised more than a quarter of $1 million for various St. Luke’s recipients.
Proceeds from the 2016 Christmas show will benefit the St. Luke’s Hospice Endowment.
