Cedarbrook Nursing Home director, assistant director appointed

The Lehigh County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the appointments of Michelle Julian as director and Justin Cumello as assistant director of nursing, respectively, for Cedarbrook Nursing Home at its Nov. 22 meeting.

Both Julian and Cumello addressed the board.

“It is really a privilege for me to serve in this capacity,” Julian said to the board. “I thank you for the opportunity, and I am really grateful.”

Cumello, a resident of Lower Macungie Township, said he is excited about the opportunity to serve the county. Cumello also said he has worked in the health care industry 17 years.

“I truly appreciate this opportunity,” he added.

In other business during the meeting, the board approved a grant for the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown.

The grant, which totals $154,483, comes from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Emergency Solutions Grant program and will be used for the renovation and reporting purposes, along with fees associated with administration.

Also, the board unanimously approved professional service agreements with attorneys Alfred Stirba and Sean Poll to serve as criminal contract attorneys for the county public defenders office.

Commissioner Thomas Creighton said the professional service agreements allow for individuals who cannot afford their own counsel.

“They roughly entertain about 400 cases per year,” he said, adding the two attorneys will allow for additional clients to be represented.
