Teacher, art students attend board meeting

High school art was formally installed at the board meeting room during the Nov. 16 Northwestern Lehigh School Board meeting.

Instructor Kathy Kehs said the exhibit was more of a craft show.

The pieces on display are the best of the best and sometimes a student would start over to get it right, she said.

The 3D work was highlighted by a 30-inch giraffe. There was a carving of a gingerbread girl. Students used oils and pastels experimented with different types of paper.

Textile designs were used on pillows or shadow boxes.

Kehs said the students who received invitations to exhibit were flattered.

School board president Willard Dellicker said art exhibit days are always important because art is an important part of school.
