Ryan Taranto, a senior at Emmaus High School, received the Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow award from Boy Scouts of America, the highest honor awarded by the organization, in recent ceremonies at the Lower Macungie Township Community Center.

Taranto’s Eagle Scout project was to design and build jazz music stands for Emmaus High School. The 14 stands will be used in competitions and concerts.

Taranto is a member of the EHS marching, symphonic and jazz bands and played in the 2016 Steel Stacks All-Star High School Jazz Band at MUSIKFEST in August.

He is a Scout with Troop #131, Wescosville.

He is the son of Mary and Christopher Taranto.
