SkillsUSA officers are named

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute recently welcomed the 2016-17 lineup of Skills-USA officers.

The students, who represent a variety of sending high schools and career and technical education programs, were recognized at pinning ceremonies recently.

Among the officers is a student from Catasauqua High School.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce.

It provides educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education in the nation’s classrooms.

Officers serve for morning session students and afternoon session students.

Catasauqua High School students attend LCTI in the morning.

The morning session officers are:

• President Nancy Eskander, a Louis E. Dieruff High School sophomore studying dental technology

• Vice President Briana Bozilesky, an Emmaus High School junior studying health occupations

• Recorder Jessy Saavedra, a Whitehall High School sophomore studying dental technology

• Treasurer Mianaret Castillo Rodriguez, a Catasauqua High School junior studying health occupations

• Treasurer Matthew Gunkle, a Whitehall High School junior studying criminal justice

• Treasurer Mariah Conover, a Southern Lehigh High School junior studying health occupations

• Secretary Pedro Ortiz, a William Allen High School junior studying plumbing and heating

• Parliamentarian Matt Rice, a Parkland High School junior studying pre-engineering and engineering technology

• Historian Ryan Correll, a Parkland High School sophomore studying plumbing and heating
