University of the Sciences

During a Sept. 17 white coat ceremony, students received white coats in an annual rite of passage for students in their first professional year (third year) of University of the Sciences’ six-year pharmacy program, symbolizing their dedication to the profession of pharmacy and to the care of others. Donning their white coats, the more than 130 student pharmacists recited the Oath of a Pharmacist, a gesture to reinforce their commitment to working with patients compassionately and to enhancing their health and well-being.

Lebanon Valley College

Elliot Miller, of Whitehall, was elected by Lebanon Valley College’s student body to serve as representative for Student Government during the 2016-17 academic year. Miller, a graduate of Whitehall High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science.

Student Government is comprised of 36 full-time students. Twenty-seven upper-class students are elected from the student body each spring for a one-year term beginning in September. This includes four class officers, four class representatives and a commuter representative from each returning class. In addition, nine first-year students are elected in September. Student Government officers are elected each spring from among the 27 upper-class students.

One of Student Government’s major responsibilities is to foster understanding, communication and cooperation among students, faculty and administrators. It serves as the channel for all student recommendations for establishing or changing policy and communicates these recommendations to the appropriate administrative offices or faculty committees.

Student Government also approves the constitutions of all campus organizations, regulates the elections of student government members and class officers and appoints Student Government members and other students to campus committees. They also plan activities and major campus-wide events including homecoming and winter formal.
