Bring pennies to church for party on Nov. 5

Public is invited! On Nov. 5, there will be a Heidelberg Church “Lutheran Fall Penny Party” 1 p.m. in fellowship hall. Doors open at noon.

Bring your friends plus lots of pennies and have a blast bidding on household items, foods, trinkets and seasonal items.

While there, enjoy some lunch, too, for the kitchen will be open.

Mix it up! Donations of any kind of baked goods made with pumpkin are being sought for the Allentown Soup Kitchen and may be dropped off 6-7 p.m. on Nov. 7 in Fellowship Hall.

Soup kitchen Assistant Coordinator Linda Hausamann said 165 hot meals were served recently to the hungry and homeless at the soup kitchen.

Special thanks to the volunteers of the day: Pastor Karen Yonney, Sheri Hausman, Eleanor and Ron Klevenhagen, Barbara Matthias, Robin Koch, Shirley Boger and Linda Hausamann.

Warm weather clothing is now being collected for those in need at the soup kitchen. Place items may place them in the special box in the church’s narthex.

Spread the word! Lehigh-Northampton County Pomona Grange is having a shoofly pie bake sale fundraiser Nov. 19 at the Schnecksville Grange.

The recipe used for these 10-inch, wet-bottom shoofly pies is the same recipe Central Grange of Germansville used for more than 60 years to bake its famous pies. To place an order, call 610-767-4400 no later than Nov. 10. Pick-up pies 1-4 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Schnecksville Grange, Route 873, Schnecksville.
