UPPER AND LOWER MILFORD COLUMN
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. In addition to the all too well-publicized race for president, there are also contests for U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress on the ballot. Plus, Upper Milford residents will vote on a referendum question asking whether they support a small increase in the earned income tax to fund the acquisition of land by the township for purposes of preservation.
Western district residents of the township will vote at Zionsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5901 Kings Highway South, and residents of the eastern district will vote at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit on Cedar Crest Boulevard.
All Lower Milford Township residents will vote at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.
Old Zionsville UCC will hold its 20th annual bazaar and filled basket auction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12. Unique gifts will be available for Christmas or any other occasion. A lunch will include chicken potpie, potato corn soup and more, as well as a bake sale. For more information, call the church office at 610-966-3601. There may still be a few crafter tables available; call the office to reserve one.
St. Peter’s Union Church is also holding a fall bazaar 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12.
In advance of the bazaar, the church is taking orders for your favorite soups. Quarts of chicken potpie, chicken corn noodle soup or vegetable beef soup can be ordered in advance. Pre-orders are not required, but are recommended and must be placed by Nov. 7.
The quarterly meeting of the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 29 in the Upper Milford Township building. After a short business meeting, Leslie May will give a talk on Victorian Christmas ornaments. May is a volunteer at the Mercer Museum and teaches a craft class at the museum where they make reproduction Victorian ornaments.

Once Election Day is over, can Thanksgiving be far behind? St. Peter’s Union Church will begin the observance of Thanksgiving Day with a special joint Thanksgiving Eve service at Huff’s Union Church 7 p.m. Nov. 23.
As hunting season approaches, remember there is no hunting, trapping or taking of wildlife permitted in any Upper Milford Township park areas.

The Upper Milford Fire Company’s ladies auxiliary meets 7 p.m. Nov. 7. New members are always welcome.
Vera Cruz senior citizens meet 1 p.m. Nov. 3 and Nov. 17 at the Vera Cruz Fire Company. All are welcome.
The Upper Milford Historical Society will not meet in November or December.
Upper Milford supervisors will meet 7 p.m. Nov. 3 and 17, with the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. following the workshop meeting.
The Emmaus-Upper Milford Joint Environmental Advisory Council meets in Upper Milford 7 p.m. Nov. 28.
The Upper Milford Open Space Committee meets 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9.
The recreation commission meets 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21.
Lower Milford Township board of supervisors regular meetings now are held the third Wednesday of each month 7:30 p.m. in the township building. This month’s regular meeting is Nov. 16. Supervisors will also hold a workshop meeting 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3.
