Salisbury High School hosted a dual enrollment information meeting recently prior to the school open house.

Joy Wernick, one of the school guidance counselors and supervisor for the program, spoke to parents of the optional curriculum.

Dual enrollment enables SHS students to earn college credits through an agreement with Seton Hall University. The classes are taught by SHS faculty members.

Wernick explained the application process, then addressed the popularity of the courses.

“It’s very clear that students are taking advantage of these opportunities. We’ve had a lot of success with this,” Wernick said.

Wernick shared the statistics from the alumni survey results. Students surveyed were satisfied with the language requirements the credits provided and dual enrollment also allowed them to satisfy addition college requirements as well.

Earned credits can transfer to any college accepting Seton Hall University credits. However, Wernick informed parents to be sure their students’ future college accepts these credits.

“I encourage you to do research to see if these credits will transfer. We are not responsible for credits that don’t transfer to other schools.”
