Rebecca Walz has been named executive director of the Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) Foundation, announced LCCC president Dr. Ann Bieber. Walz started in the position Sept. 26.
At LCCC, she will be responsible for increasing support for innovative academic and student success programs, working with corporations, private foundations, government agencies and individuals to support both short- and long-term goals of the college.
“Rebecca brings a strong background in fundraising, both in higher education and in public media,” said Bieber. “As LCCC continues to develop innovative programs, Rebecca will be key in garnering support that will help ensure students have the resources to attend, that programs can grow in innovative ways and that there are ample opportunities for growth in a variety of priority areas.”
She has more than 20 years of experience in development, fundraising, communications and marketing and most recently served as director of alumni engagement and the annual fund at Northampton Community College, where she was responsible for a $700,000 annual fund goal. Also at NCC, she served as executive director for the Alumni Board of Directors.
Previously, Walz served as director of development and public relations at WDIY Lehigh Valley Community Public Radio Station, Bethlehem, and was vice president of programming at WLVT PBS 39, Bethlehem.
Walz received a Master’s in communications, broadcast and cable management from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s in communications from Moorhead State University.
