Elizabeth D. Lipman has been appointed Administrator of Lehigh Carbon Community College’s (LCCC) Early Learning Center (ELC).
Lipman received a Bachelor’s in elementary education, nursery through sixth grade, from the State University of New York at Old Westbury.
She started at LCCC in 2006 and has worked as a child-care teacher part-time and full-time. She also has served as interim director
The ELC has a half-day preschool program, from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., which uses the Reggio Emilia approach that emphasizes meaningful play experiences and challenging learning opportunities within classroom environments that are designed to meet the child’s individual needs.
The program is open to the public and children of LCCC staff and students. Children can attend the program for two, three or five days a week.
The center is nationally-accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has received the top rating from the state Keystone STARS.
The ELC, operating since 1972, accepts children ages 3 to 5. In addition to a preschool program, the center serves as a lab school for students in LCCC’s Early Childhood Education program, and many of LCCC’s healthcare programs, giving college students real-life experiences by working with children.
