District 11 announced the times, locations and matchups for the 4A volleyball tournament. The games begin on Saturday morning at four different locations.

Parkland, the top seed, will host the winner of (8) Whitehall vs. (9) Pocono Mountain East, which is scheduled for 9 a.m. The winner takes on the Trojans at 10:30 a.m.

(4) Emmaus will host (5) Pleasant Valley at 10 a.m. and Delaware Valley will host Wyoming Valley West, however no time was announced for this contest.

At the bottom of the bracket, Liberty is the two seed despite winning the EPC title. They will play host to the winner of (7) Freedom and (10) Nazareth which takes place at 9 a.m. The winner faces the Hurricanes at 10:30 a.m.

Semifinals are already scheduled for Allen on Nov. 1 with the finals slated to be at Whitehall on Nov. 3.

BOYS SOCCER

Meanwhile last night, there was plenty of soccer action in the damp and rainy conditions around the Lehigh Valley.

Two Lehigh Valley Press teams faced off in boys action with five-seed Emmaus traveling to Northampton, the four seed. But it was the Hornets who came away with a 4-0 win in this game. Kacper Grycel got EHS on the board with 16:18 to go in the first half. Just about four minutes later Kevin Williams scored to give Emmaus a 2-0 lead on a pass from Grycel.

Williams would score Emmaus’ first goal of the second half and Brendon Melin added the final goal.

Top-seed Stroudsburg was a 2-1 winner over Pocono Mountain East and that will be Emmaus’ next opponent on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

The Liberty boys needed OT to hold off Allen just days after a disappointing loss to the Nazareth Eagles in the EPC finals.

Valentine Perevalov scored the game-winner for the Hurricanes off a long ball from Chase Tackett with 11:37 to go in the first overtime.

Trevor Koski gave the Canes a 1-0 lead in the game before Allen eventually tied it on a goal from Josen Mana.

Liberty moves on to play Parkland who was a 2-0 victor over Pleasant Valley.

The Trojans needed just 23 seconds to take control of the game.

Peter Kwakye-Ackah got Parkland on the board when he took a perfect pass from Justin Douglas and drilled a shot just inside the right post with 14:28 remaining in the opening half.

The Trojans quickly stole the back and Kwakye-Ackah once again played a key role as he fed the ball to Tsegaye Geiger, who converted it into a goal and a 2-0 lead with 14:05 left in the half.

In 3A, Southern Lehigh won 1-0 and will take on top-seed Northwestern on Nov. 1. Central won 7-1 over Pottsville and will play second-seed Blue Mountain on Nov. 1.

In 2A, Salisbury was a 4-0 winner over Notre Dame, setting up a trip to the finals to play Palisades who was a 4-1 winner.

Patrick Adams had a foot in all four goals for the Falcons, assisting on James Hadinger’s goal which was the first of the game and proved to be the game-winner.

Adams added two goals and another assist while Tyler Keller made five saves.

In 1A, Schuylkill Haven won 4-0 and faces Moravian Academy in the semis with Williams Valley waiting for the winner of Lehigh Valley Christian-Notre Dame ES, which will be played Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

In girls soccer, Emmaus was a 3-0 winner over Pleasant Valley.

Sophie Pickering gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead in the first half and it turned out that’s all they would need.

But in the second half, the Hornets added insurance. Chrissie Lambert scored from about 30 yards out to put EHS up 2-0 with 26:58 to play. After that, Maddie Fey scored to make it 3-0.

Emmaus moves on to play Parkland who was a convincing 6-0 winner over Pocono Mountain East.

Emily Piston and Brooke Schutter both had two goals and an assist in the win for the Trojans. Rachel Laird and Rachel Medlar both had a goal and an assist.

Olivia Schantz made a save in the shutout win.

Stroudsburg beat Easton 2-1 and will face Whitehall, who was a 1-0 winner in overtime against Liberty.

Hope Millets scored the game-winner and Kay Solderitch made four saves to help the Zephs move on.

In 3A girls, Blue Mountain will face Central in the finals on Nov. 1

In 2A girls, Pine Grove won 5-1 to advance to the finals where they will face the Falcons, who were 2-1 winners over Northwestern.

The two teams played a scoreless first half before the Falcons took a 1-0 lead after Cay Meikrantz punched in a rebound on Caitlin Hoeing’s initial shot with 24:34 to play in the game.

But the Tigers responded as Hathaway even the game at 1-1.

The Falcons would answer back just a couple of minutes later and take a 2-1 lead as Rylee Donaldson’s 40 yard free kick found the back of the net.

In 1A, Minersville and Tri-Valley play in one semifinal with Moravian Academy and Notre Dame East Stroudsburg facing off in the other on Nov. 1.
