Weisenberg Twp board discusses proposed truck stop plans

Weisenberg Township supervisors had a chance to review the proposed truck stop on Golden Key Road.

Mike Preston representing Liberty Engineering, explained the plan to the board.

Certain waivers and conditions were requested by the developer.

The “Exit Only” designated on the plan did not meet ordinance standards, but after much discussion, supervisors agreed to grant the waiver on this item.

They did have concerns about the funding for the proposed traffic light at the intersection of Golden Key Road and Commerce Circle.

The board’s opinion is the developer should be responsible for this along with the striping required on the road.

After much discussion, supervisors decided to table the plan until the future, so the developer could address their concerns.

F&M Land Company also discussed its three-lot subdivision plan for at 7724 Carpet Road with the board.

William Beitler, of Beitler Land Surveying, presented the plan.

They were at the preliminary plan stage and needed approval of the planning module.

After some discussion, the plan was approved.

The cell tower ordinance, which Solicitor Don Lipson, drafted will be discussed at the upcoming budget meeting.

The board was scheduled to meet Oct. 24 to review both items.

Brian Carl, wearing his fire chief hat, told supevisors Weisenberg Township Volunteer Fire Company had received 150 calls so far this year.

The final budget was adopted and some landscaping was completed.

Several new members were welcomed to the fire company.

Roadmaster Tony Werley reported paving on Old Route 22 was completed and crack sealing was done on some other roads.

Carl, reporting as the township administrator, said the township website is online and available.

Treasurer Jeff Straus asked the board if it was possible to raise the penalty for non-payment of sewer bills.

Several residents have not paid, and he suggested a possible increase in the penalty would be an incentive to pay on time.

The area with this problem is Hailey Court in the Aberdeen Hills subdivision.
