To the Editor:
Phillips Armstrong, Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners president, has made himself available to debate his opponent, Mr. Mako, in three public forums to ensure that the public has the chance to make an educated decision about who will best represent them in Harrisburg for the next two years. Mr. Mako has canceled all three - unilaterally.
Mr. Mako said he was available on Nov. 3 to attend a public forum hosted by the League of Women Voters to discuss the issues facing the people of the 183rd District. His campaign (on Oct. 21) told League of Women Voters Northampton County President Beverly Hernandez that he has “chosen to attend a fundraiser instead.” This disrespect of the time and efforts of the volunteers of the League of Women Voters and the public has been a disturbing pattern of behavior by Mr. Mako.
What does it say about a candidate and a campaign who would rather address special interest group donors than to face the voters?
Phillips Armstrong strongly believes in public accountability and transparency and trusts the voters to choose him to serve them in Harrisburg as state representative to serve the people of the 183rd District.
Phillips Armstrong is a retired social studies teacher for 40 years at Whitehall High School, a hall of fame coach and the current president of Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners, where he was first bi-partisanly appointed, then re-elected on both sides of the ballot.
