District news: NASD Building Olympics will take place Nov. 11

Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation has announced the 2016 Northampton Area School District (NASD) Building Olympics will be held Nov. 11 at the middle school. Doors open 5:30 p.m. with games and festivities beginning 6 p.m.

Adult tickets are $3; student and senior citizens are $1. Military personnel - inactive or active - are free.

Building Olympics is a friendly competition between the six schools that comprise NASD. Each school has a team of staff members who will compete in games for the bragging rights for this year’s event.

Students may assist their school staff by bringing in pennies to their particular school Oct. 27-Nov. 4. The school with the most pennies receives bonus points toward their school’s score.

Halftime will feature students participating in Minute to Win It games and a performance by NASD’s Step Team.

With Nov. 11 being Veterans Day, in honor of our service people - active or inactive - Northampton VFW Honor Guard will present the colors prior to the senior high chorus singing the National Anthem.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Northampton Area Konkrete Kids Educational Foundation and Angel 34.

The alumni game allows previous teammates to relive their days as members of the Northampton field hockey team and to play a sport they love. All alumni are encouraged to come out to either play or to be a spectator.

The goal is to keep the Northampton field hockey community strong and in touch. Come out and support the orange and black!
