Following Columbus Day Oct. 10 and school pictures Oct. 11, Central Catholic celebrated a spirit week leading up to Homecoming with themed dress down days.
Oct. 12 was pajama day, featuring flannels, bathrobes and many students in onesies. A safari theme Oct. 13 allowed students to be an animal, a hunter or a tourist. On Oct. 14 students dressed in their best spirit wear for the Homecoming pep rally. Pep rally events included minute-to-win-it challenges, fall sports recognition and performances by the cheerleaders, band, dance team and “mance” team, an annual tradition in which senior boys perform a specially choreographed routine.
The pep rally was followed by the Homecoming football game against Stroudsburg.
The Homecoming Dance was held Oct. 15 in Rockne Hall, where seniors Sam Brown and Stacy Ntungane were crowned Homecoming King and Queen.
On Oct. 20, CCHS students will travel to Washington D.C. on a pilgrimage to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Other schools and parishes in the Diocese of Allentown will make the trip as well, filling the cathedral for a mass in honor of Our Lady of Mercy.
School mass will be celebrated Nov. 1 for All Saints Day, a holy day of obligation.
