The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference held quarterfinal playoff games in field hockey and soccer Saturday. The semifinal round will be played Tuesday at neutral sites. For more about your local varsity teams see this week’s editions of the Lehigh Valley Press newspapers.
FIELD HOCKEY
Pocono Mountain East-Liberty
The Hurricanes beat the Cardinals 2-1 in overtime.
Sadie Abbound scored the game-winner in the second overtime for Liberty, which is the No. 3 seed and will meet Stroudsburg in the next round. Anissa Abbound scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner. Sam Taylor also had an assist for the Hurricanes.
Jaden Wittel scored Pocono Mountain East’s only goal.
Parkland-Stroudsburg
The Mountaineers edged Parkland 1-0.
Lizzy Cunningham scored the game’s only goal, assisted by Julianna Sweeeney.
Parkland was out-shot 17-2 but goal keeper Brie Barraco made 13 saves in the game. Stroudsburg also held a 20-2 advantage in corners.
The No. 2 seed Mounties will move on to face Liberty in the next round.
Whitehall-Emmaus
The Hornets beat the Zephyrs 6-0.
Emmaus goals were scored by Meredith Sholder (2), Leah Zellner (2), Kira Koehler and Kayla Kisthardt.
The top-seeded and defending state champ Hornets move on to face Northampton in the next round.
Easton-Northampton
The Konkrete Kids beat the Red Rovers 2-1 in double overtime.
No information about the game was received by the Press.
Northampton, the No. 4 seed, will move on to face top-seeded Emmaus in Tuesday’s semifinals.
BOYS SOCCER
Pocono Mountain East-Allen
The Cardinals beat the Canaries 1-0.
Doug Giota scored the game’s only goal for Pocono Mountain East, the No. 5 seed which will meet top-seeded Liberty in the next round.
Northampton-Parkland
The Trojans beat the Konkrete Kids 4-0.
Parkland, the No. 2 seed, got goals from four different players, including Owen Iacobelli, Conley Hochstetler, Dawson Berger and Andrew Luchansky. Assists went to Berger and Josh Kiser.
The Trojans will meet either No. 3 seed Stroudsburg or No. 6 Central Catholic in Tuesday’s semifinal.
Emmaus-Liberty
The Hurricanes scored in the first overtime period to beat the Hurricanes 2-1.
Top-seeded Liberty advances to face Pocono Mountain East in the next round.
GIRLS SOCCER
Whitehall-Pleasant Valley
The Zephyrs beat the Bears 2-1.
Kylee Cunningham scored both Whitehall goal, with assists from Kate Bonshak on both. Kay Solderitch made nine saves in the Zephyr cage.
Daryb Reiss scored Pleasant Valley’s goal.
Whitehall, the No. 8 seed, will move and face top-seeded Parkland Tuesday.
Central Catholic-Emmaus
The Hornets beat the Vikettes 3-0.
Kellie Reith, Amy Lineberger and Sophie Pickering scored goals for the No. 3 seed Hornets, which will move on to face No. 2 seed Easton or No. 5 Stroudsburg in the semifinals.
Liberty-Parkland
The Trojans beat the Hurricanes 8-0.
