South Whitehall Township police are seeking information related to the possible animal cruelty and subsequent death of a dog in the zero to 100 block of South Cedar Crest Boulevard.
Police were dispatched 12:52 p.m. Oct. 7 to the South Cedar Crest Boulevard area for the report of a man who appeared to be shooing a dog into traffic.
The man is described as having light brown skin, standing 6 feet 2 inches or taller, and wearing what appeared to be a medical mask or breathing filter.
He was wearing a hooded shirt with the hood up.
Police found the dog deceased under a tree approximately 50 feet west of the road.
Police say another witness, different from the reporting individual, told them the dog was struck by a passing, tall, white utility van.
This witness said after the dog was hit by the van, it limped off the road and the van left the scene.
Debris from the van was collected at the scene, police say.
Police are attempting to gather as much information as possible concerning this incident.
Police say the van driver is not being sought as a suspect, rather a material witness with respect to this incident.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact South Whitehall police at 610-398-0337 or state Dog Warden Aquirre at 484-223-9107.
