Sheckler Elementary School Principal Eric Dauberman last month received some surprising news in the form of a grant.
According to Dauberman, Sheckler was nominated for a $1,000 grant through Town & Country Bowling Lanes, Bethlehem.
According to bowling center manager Dennis Bruder, the national Kids Bowl Free summer bowling program selected Sheckler out of 18,000 schools nationwide to receive the check. Town & Country’s marketing representative nominated area schools within a 25 mile radius.
“Your school was selected,” Bruder said, who presented Dauberman and the school with the check Sept. 16.
Dauberman told The Press the check will be deposited into the school’s student activities fund.
“We could use the money for any number of things that would benefit our students,” he said. “Things such as field trips, assemblies or even toward [a new] playground system if need be.”
Dauberman said the information on the grant is posted to the school’s Facebook page.
The Kids Bowl Free program allows bowling centers around the country to give back to the community and provide a safe, secure and fun way for kids to spend time this summer.
The program also allows children to register for two free games a day, throughout the summer months, at a participating bowling center.
