Whitehall-Coplay School Board approved the per capita tax exonerations and tax refunds at its meeting Monday night.

Board member William Leiner Jr. made a motion to approve, and member Eileen Abruzzi seconded.

Three members - Owen Eberhart Jr., Tina Koren and Lloyd Schafer - were absent.

All present members voted in favor of the approval.

After the meeting, Business Manager Michael Malay told The Press the exoneration amount for the per capita tax was $79, and the amount for real estate tax was $14,632.28.

“Most of these are due to duplicate payments,” Malay said. “A few are seniors that didn’t have to pay.”

In other business, the board approved Assistant Superintendent Christopher Schiffert as the open records officer for Whitehall-Coplay School District.

All board members voted in favor.

School board members will hold committee meetings 4 p.m. Oct. 24.

The next regular board meeting is 7 p.m. Nov. 14.
