Rescue mission: Spaghetti dinner to be held Oct. 15

One of the Lehigh Valley’s most popular food-themed fundraisers will take place when folks gather for the Allentown Rescue Mission’s 14th annual spaghetti dinner 4-7 p.m. Oct. 15 in the fellowship hall of Asbury United Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Road, South Whitehall Township.

Admission is free, although free-will offerings from dinner guests will be accepted.

Donors and guests will be treated to a four-course meal featuring appetizers, including a cheese fondue fountain, salad, dessert and spaghetti - vegetarian and traditional with turkey or beef meatballs.

Soft drinks, water and coffee are also included.

The main event will be a Chinese auction featuring unique prizes and gifts secured by Allentown Rescue Mission supporters.

What gives the spaghetti dinner its special fundraising flavor, however, are the special contributions made by sponsors and community partners, led by WAEB 790 AM and morning show personality Bobby Gunther-Walsh, as well as more than 125 community volunteers who give their valuable time.

Morning show listeners may call in to the station to make or match sponsor pledges for one of Gunther-Walsh’s secret-recipe meatballs served at the event.

Donors can pay through credit card or check, which can be sent directly to the Allentown Rescue Mission.

Proceeds from the spaghetti dinner help fund the Allentown Rescue Mission’s life-changing programs that rescue, restore and rehabilitate homeless men across the Lehigh Valley.
