New police officers, director of emergency services/fire chief welcomed
Emmaus Police Chief Charles Palmer said after a long search including a written examination, physical agility testing, oral interview, background investigation including a polygraph examination and a second interview, the Emmaus Police Department announces the hiring of the following individuals.
Carlos Marrero, 34, of Allentown, was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He lives with his wife and three children. Marrero served in the U.S. Army 2008 to 2015. He currently serves with the U.S. Army Reserves. He attended the Allentown Police Academy.
“I am really excited to start work at the Emmaus Police Department. It is a great privilege to be given the opportunity to be a part of the community. I will do my best to uphold the respect the people of Emmaus have for the police department and hope to be a great help to the police department and the community,” Marrero said.
Don MaGee, 38, of Fountain Hill, was born in Gary, Ind. He lives with his girlfriend and his two sons. He has been serving with the U.S. Army Reserves since 2007. MaGee attended the Allentown Police Academy.
“I am excited to be a part of the Emmaus Police Department. I plan on bringing my “A” game to work with me everyday while serving the community,” MaGee said.
Melanie Sayres, 22, was born and raised in Reading. She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and attended the Reading Police Academy.
“I am excited and thankful to achieve my dream of working as a police officer, especially here in Emmaus. I look forward to serving the community professionally and also getting to know everyone personally in this wonderful place I now call home,” Sayres said.
Kevin Miller, 26, of Easton, earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from East Stroudsburg University and attended the Allentown Police Academy.
“I am looking forward to becoming a police officer in Emmaus and serving your beautiful community,” Miller said.
