Weisenberg board discusses proposed truck stop along Golden Key Road

A newly proposed truck stop was discussed by the Weisenberg supervisors at their monthly meeting.

Paul Swezwak of Liberty Engineering showed the board a sketch plan, which proposed the combining of two lots on Golden Key Road with a lot on Commerce Circle.

He was told to submit the plans to the township planning commission.

A land development plan, also presented by Swezwak, for a parking lot expansion at 9747 Commerce Circle was conditionally approved by supervisors.

An extension of time was granted until Dec. 19 for the Misty Glen Properties plan.

Walter Snider of Edelweiss Road asked about the status of the ATV ordinance.

He was told the ordinance was adopted.

Snider said his neighbor is still running equipment at any hour of the night or day.

He was told to contact state police regarding his neighbor’s alleged disturbing the peace.

Lehigh County Authority requested a reduction in permit fees required for a project at the Arcadia sewage treatment plant.

The proposal is to insulate the tanks for protection in cold weather.

Cold weather causes an ammonia problem which, by insulating the tanks, will be solved.

Supervisors approved the fee reduction.

The board received a deed of easement for two areas in the township.

Sunset Drive, a private road, will have deeded access to the township and fire company.

A snow storage easement was given on West Hills Court.

Fire Chief Brian Carl reported the Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Company has answered 135 calls so far this year.

A regional picnic will be held Oct. 9 at Ontelaunee Park, Lynn Township, with firefighters from surrounding companies invited.

The supervisors were invited to attend.

Damage to the fire station was investigated by state police.

Evidently, a truck turned around on the grass and hit the building.

The fire company is discussing the installation of cameras.

Attorney Donald Lipson distributed information on mini cell towers to the board.

The proposed ordinance will be discussed at the next meeting.

With his Township Administrator hat on, Carl told the board the Dominic Sumpolec hearing before the district judge was rescheduled for Sept. 29.

Re-grading and seeding of the baseball field has been completed.

Treasurer Jeff Straus and Carl will start preparing the budget for next year.

Carl discussed the importance of good MS4 practices.
