Christ’s Church at Lowhill to have penny party on Oct. 7

Christ’s Church at Lowhill, 4695 Lowhill Church Road, New Tripoli, is having a penny party Oct. 7.

Doors open 5:30 p.m. Games start at 7 p.m.

This event will feature items for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas along with some surprise items and also some high-end items. Food will be available.

Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry is open 9-11 a.m. the first Saturday of each month and 4-6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month.

Senior citizens are welcome 10 a.m.-noon the previous Wednesday.

The food pantry, serving Heidelberg, Lowhill, Lynn and Weisenberg townships, accepts donations 9-11 a.m. the last Saturday and the third Tuesday of the month and by appointment.

Donations may also be dropped off at both New Tripoli Banks and ESSA Bank.

Morgenland Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, is accepting orders until Nov. 6 for its candy sale.

Pick up will be 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 3.

Choose from either half or full pounds of light or dark peanut clusters, raisin clusters, cashew patties, peanut butter or coconut crème eggs, molasses coconut eggs, caramels, light covered pretzels, dark chocolate crème filled peanut roll eggs and more.

Lehigh Valley Zoo, 5150 Game Preserve Road, Schnecksville, is hosting Ottertoberfest 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 1.

This autumn event will feature 15 craft vendors, a pumpkin patch, hay maze, live music, craft beer and otter related family-friendly activities.

Come to the Brew at the Zoo Country Beer Festival featuring Jeremiah James immediately after Ottertoberfest at 1 p.m.

Sample more than 40 seasonal brands of craft beer, live music, food, games and more.

Corks and Canvas Paint a Turtle Night will take place Oct. 6 in the Zoo’s Bison Room.

Doors open 5:30 p.m. with painting beginning at 6 p.m.

The fee includes canvas and all art supplies.

Bring beverages and snacks.

All participants will receive a photo and fun fact sheet of a turtle.

Join staff at the Zoo for a Pokemon sleepover 6 p.m. Oct. 7.

The sleepover ends at 9 a.m. Oct. 8.

The fee includes a pizza dinner, lure modules at the Zoo’s Pokestops, guided zoo tour, nature hike, campfire with s’mores and a catered breakfast.
