Crust
3 cups sifted flour
3/4 cup snow white Crisco
1/4 cup butter Crisco
2 tsp. salt
1 egg
5 T. cold water
1 T. white vinegar
Mix all ingredients with fork-. Form 2 balls. Refrigerate 1/2 hour before rolling out dough.
Filling
4 cups yellow delicious apples, peeled and sliced
1 cup crushed pineapple in syrup, undrained
2/3 cup sugar
3 T. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
Combine apples, pineapple, sugar, flour and cinnamon in large bowl, mix well.
Pour into pie shell. Cut strips for lattice top
Brush with egg white. Dust with sugar and cinnamon
Bake at 375ºF for 45 to 50 minutes.
Grim's Orchard and Family Farm Blue Ribbon Apple Pie Contest closed out the culinary competition on Labor Day at The 164th Great Allentown Fair.
