LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Article By: JENNIFER BODISCH Special to The Press

Winter preparedness and next year’s budget were just two of the topics on the agenda at the Sept. 1 Lowhill Township supervisors’ meeting.

Roadmaster Joe Ka-lusky said there were four days of set up and take down for the Aug. 20 Night in the Country community celebration.

Kalusky said his crew has finished oil and chipping and had nearly completed sweeping.

Line painting is planned for the upcoming month.

With budget talks in the near future, Vice Chairman George Wessner Jr. asked Kalusky for his input.

“Think about if there are any bigger projects to keep in mind to put in the budget for next year,” Wessner said.

The bridge project on Valley Road was mentioned.

An update was given with regard to FEMA reimbursement for last winter’s storm.

The contract has been signed and the township is awaiting payment.

Supervisors agreed to incorporate and later adopt an ordinance similar to those of surrounding townships regarding the hybrid transport network.

In the event the township is approached by a company seeking to place cell phone towers, an ordinance will set height and location parameters.

In public comment, resident Larry Dorsch thanked township Administrator Brian Carl for a job well done with planning the recent Lehigh County Association of Township Officials convention.

“Kudos to Brian for a job well done,” said Dorsch, adding the event was the best he has attended in years.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the annual LCATO convention was held Aug. 3 at the Schnecksville Fire Company.

There were speakers, activities and a clam bake.

Finally, Trick or Treat Night will be from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 29, rain or shine.
