Lower Macungie woman dies from a gunshot wound

The Lehigh County Coroner has identified a woman found shot outside a residence early Sept. 13.

Stephanie Roof, 46, of 6409 Pine Crest Lane, was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m. in Lehigh Valley Health Network, Cedar Crest campus, Salisbury Township, according to a press release from the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensics Center Sept. 14.

An autopsy found Roof suffered a gunshot wound to the body.

Lehigh County Coroner Scott M. Grim ruled the manner of Roof’s death a homicide.

According to media reports, another resident of the 6400 block of Pine Crest Lane called police to the scene where Roof was found in the driveway of a residence in the 6400 block of Pine Crest Lane.

According to county property assessment records available through public search, 6409 Pinecrest Lane is owned by Robert M. and Stephanie S. Roof and is described as part of the Ancient Oak South subdivision. The residence, built in 1987, was sold to the Roofs in 2004.

The Lehigh County Coroner, Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office are involved in the investigation.

A spokesperson from the district attorney’s office said Sept. 14 by telephone no comment would be made because the investigation is ongoing.
