Smile! Picture days start tomorrow

Picture days have been scheduled for next week at the elementary schools.

Lehigh Elementary School, Sept. 16

Borough’s Franklin School, Sept. 21

Borough’s Siegfried School, Sept. 22

George Wolf Elementary School, Sept. 23

Students will bring home a flier for parents/guardians to review, order and return payment. Purchase is optional, but all students will have their pictures taken.

Northampton’s Big N Band will host several regional bands in its annual Festival of Bands Sept. 17 at Northampton Area High School. This year there will be two separate shows - 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Marching bands from Whitehall, Catasauqua, Northern Lehigh, North Schuylkill, Blue Mountain, Boyertown and Nazareth high schools will join the bands from Northampton Area High School and Northampton Area Middle School in presenting their fall 2016 routines. Most will perform twice since they are participating in both the Tournament of Bands and Cavalcade of Bands circuits this year.

The music department will be holding high school select chorus auditions 2:30-4 p.m. Sept. 19 and 20 at the high school.

ESL meet the teacher night for parents/guardians will be held 7 p.m. Sept. 22 in the high school library.

The Northampton Area High School DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) Club team of Olivia Daniels and Tyler Bennett will be hosting a movie night at Northampton’s Municipal Park 5-10:30 p.m. Sept. 24. The movie “Zootopia” will be shown 8 p.m. with a variety of activities beforehand.

The band entertainment and movie are free. There will be an assortment of food and beverages for purchase.

The money raised will benefit Dream Come True, Lehigh Valley. This organization allows terminally ill children to have their biggest dreams come true despite their condition or the financial state of the family.

Specifically, funds will help Guiliana, a young girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, go to Hawaii for the trip of a lifetime.

Vince’s Cheesesteaks and Kona Ice will be on hand. An assortment of other food items will be available, such as a bake sale, candy, popcorn, walking tacos, hot dogs and more.

Prior to the start of the movie, Band of Brothers will be performing classic rock hits in the band shell.

Balloons by Cindy will entertain children throughout the night.

Donations will be collected. A 50/50 raffle and gift card auction will also be held.

Join your PTAs! Parents, family and friends are encouraged to become a member of any of the Northampton Area School District PTAs. The PTAs, along with generous volunteers and memberships, help support many activities and special programs for students. Please consider returning your membership forms that have been sent home with your child.

PTAs are looking for volunteers, too.
