To the Editor:

This is an invitation to members of Emmaus Borough Council and the borough manager to accompany me on a walk through the center of town so that they can see for themselves the deplorable state of some of the sidewalks I encounter on a regular basis. Our walk will begin on the north side of Main Street at the intersection with State Road. We will proceed west on Main and continue along Chestnut to Tenth where we will cross to the south side and then head east along the same streets to the intersection with Kline’s Lane. My point will have been made long before that destination is reached.

I doubt that any of the above mentioned will accept my offer and I predict that nothing of consequence will result from the publication of this letter. The topic of sidewalk repairs is just too volatile and controversial. It is best ignored in the hope that it will disappear. I know how this game is played.
