Three men charged with burglarizing homes

Three Lehigh Valley men have been charged with more than 10 burglaries throughout Berks, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton and Schuylkill counties, and in New Jersey between Aug. 22, 2015 and Feb. 15 of this year.

According to an affidavit of probable cause obtained from District Judge Rod Beck’s office, Slatington, Trooper Chris Yaworski, State Police Troop M, Fogelsville, states two of the men William Christopher Meleschuck, 33, of Bethlehem, and Douglas Thomas Meleschuk, 42, of Whitehall, are brothers but their names are spelled differently.

Meleschuk and Joseph Thomas Blose, 42, of Allentown, were charged with allegedly stealing more than $34,000 in items.

Meleschuck was charged with stealing more than $68,000 worth of items, the affidavit states.

According to Yaworski, the men burglarized homes in Lynn, South Whitehall, Upper Saucon, Washington and Weisenberg, townships in Lehigh County; Albany and Greenwich townships in Berks County; Allen and Lehigh in Northampton County; Ross, Saylorsburg and Smithfield townships in Monroe County and North Manheim in Schuylkill County.

Meleschuk is also charged with burglarizing a home in Alexandria Township, Hunterdon County, N.J.

The affidavit statesthe three allegedly stole pillow cases, jewelry, jewelry boxes, class rings, watches, pins, cuff links, a computer, Kindle Fire, a purse, German memorabilia, a crossbow, tools, chainsaw, collectible trains and coins, cash and coins, microwave, Vizio television, fly fishing equipment, backpack, garden tools, a scarf, a handgun and revolver, a scripture bag containing three religious texts, credit cards and other non-valuable items, the affidavit states.

According to Yaworski, the men drove a champagne-colored 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee during the burglaries.

Multiple pry bars, work gloves, pillow cases and pawn receipts were recovered from the vehicle, the affidavit states.

According to Lehigh County criminal records, all three men are charged with numerous burglaries, theft by unlawful taking or disposition, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.

Meleschuk and Blose are both charged with access device fraud and Meleschuck and Blose are charged with criminal trespass, according to criminal court records.

The three were arraigned Aug. 25 before Beck.

Bail was set at $250,000 for each man.

They were unable to post bail and confined to Lehigh County Jail.
