Gary W. Wieand

Gary W. Wieand, 68, of Slatington, died peacefully Sept. 2, 2016, in his home.

He was the husband of Patricia J. (Green) Wieand.

Born Dec. 31, 1947, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Gerald Wieand and Gloria R.W. (Hauser) Kraynik.

He was a design engineer at Lucent Technologies, Allentown, for 34 years.

Prior to that, he was an electrician for the former Bell Telephone.

Since his formal retirement, he installed Life Lines for the American Red Cross for five years.

An avid outdoorsman, he was a past vice president and life member of North End Rod and Gun Club, New Tripoli, and a life member of the Copeechan Fish and Game Club, Schnecksville.

His love of trapshooting began at age 13 when he honed his skills as an expert marksman.

He was a member of the Lehigh Valley, Suburban, ATA and Youth trapshooting leagues.

He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Laurys Station.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Brenda S. Wieand-Reppert and her husband, Walter, of Whitehall, Gary A. Wieand of Allentown; stepchildren Shawn M. Rotondo of Coplay, Kristen L. Rotondo of Bath; grandchildren Joshua Reppert, Julieann and Vincent Rotondo; “brothers and sisters” David Correll and his wife, Beth, Linda Butz-Sehar and her husband, Danny, Jane DeLong and her husband, Benny, Scott and Wayne Leinbach; many nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of his life noon-4 p.m. Sept. 8 at North End Gun Club, 7211 Herber Road, New Tripoli.
