A reminder about required absence notes for students: Parents/guardians must provide a written note to be given to your child’s teacher within three days upon returning to school after an absence. The best method is to write a note promptly on the day of return. Remember to include the date, child’s name, teacher’s name, a specific reason for the absence and parent’s/guardian’s signature.

If no excuse note is received within this three-day period, it is an illegal absence. When there are three or more illegal days without notes, parents or guardians will be required to appear before the Whitehall magistrate on truancy charges. This is a school district policy.

Please support the PTO. The organization will continue to provide numerous educational and cultural programs for students in grades K-12. Many special events could not occur without the assistance and financial support of this dedicated organization.

During the upcoming weeks, parents/guardians will receive information about becoming a member. Please enroll your family as a member; there are no commitments when you enroll, and it will only benefit your child. Fundraising information also will be distributed.

Volunteers are welcome to actively participate in the following opportunities: hospitality, school volunteers for grades K-12, holiday party, school spirit functions, fundraisers, publicity, book fairs, Children’s Day and other various programs and special projects.

The PTO exists for all children’s benefits. Please consider being an active member.

If your child is absent from school for three or more days, parents/guardians are encouraged to request homework is gathered for them. Parents must call the school to request homework, which must be picked up in the main office before 4 p.m.
