Cooking for Crowds: A Volunteer’s Guide to Safe Food Handling program helps nonprofit organizations understand the risks involved with preparing large volumes of food and food safety practices that need to be implemented.
The program is being held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 10 at St. Peter’s Union Church, Macungie.
It is geared to volunteers preparing food for events like church fundraisers, fire company barbecues, booster club food sales and other events where food is served to the public.
It covers information related to preventing cross contamination, temperature control, good personal hygiene, cleaning and sanitization and planning a successful food event.
Register online by Sept. 7 at extension.psu.edu/food/safety/events.
