Churches offering family ice cream socials, hoagies, meals
The Ladies Auziliary of Zion’s Union Church Maxatawny, 329 Church Road, Kutztown will be having an ice cream social 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2.
There will be entertainment, lots of fun and fellowship.
There is a fee to attend for anyone over age 7.

Busy Bees at St. John’s UCC, 1027 Church Road, Fogelsville, are accepting orders until Sept. 11 for their hoagie sale.
Hoagies are either ham or Italian. Pick up on Sept. 21.

Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville, and the ELCA is hosting a “God’s Work, Our Church” event following the 11:05 a.m. service Sept. 11 with a covered dish meal.
Following the meal participants will go to different service projects to serve the community and God’s people.

Technical Tuesday will be 3-4 p.m. Sept. 6 at Luther Crest retirement community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall.
Learn how to download favorite e-books, e-magazines, e-audiobooks and digital music.
The library will be holding a book speed dating event for kids in grades four to six at its “Judge a Book by Its Cover” event 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the library.
Join the staff for its flu clinic sponsored by Walgreens Pharmacy 2- 5 p.m. Sept. 7 at the library.
There is a per shot fee for uninsured individuals.
The shot is free or there is a small co-pay with most Medicare or Medicaid insurance companies.
Teens, come and join a new group just for teens and talk about books and plan future events 6:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the library.
Story time for grandparents and the grandkids will take place from 10-11 a.m. Sept. 9 and 10 at the library.
There will be special stories and songs.
Story time for babies, age birth to 2 years old, and their caregivers will be 10:30-11 a.m. Sept. 12 at the library.
Caregivers enjoy your kid’s favorite picture book, rhymes and songs with them.
The library will be closed Sept. 3 and 5 for Labor Day.
