LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Kids enjoy catered picnic

Week eight at Camp Jefferson was one hot, humid and sunny week.

On Monday, we spent the day playing games such as Steal the Bacon, Silent Ball and a few innings of Wiffleball, but it was too hot to stay outside. In the afternoon, we played a game of Splash Out and then enjoyed keeping cool at Jefferson Pool.

On Tuesday, along with Camp Cementon, we headed to the Roxy theater for our field trip of the week. Campers enjoyed watching the ever-awaited sequel to the “Finding Nemo,” which is “Finding Dory.” Afterward, we headed back to Jefferson for lunch and pool fun for the rest of the day.

On Wednesday, we played Oh, Captain and Night at the Museum, as well as spending time doing a few different crafts. Campers had craft choices, such as decorating a flat, plastic water bottle, a wooden door hanger, a leftover wooden box from a past week or coloring with markers and paper. Campers listened to music and used their creativity skills before and after lunch while a thunderstorm rolled through Jefferson Park. The storm quickly passed, and we were able to spend another afternoon at the pool.

On Thursday, we played outdoor games, such as Elbow Tag, TV Tag, Fastest in the West, Heads up Seven Up and an indoor game of Hot Potato. After lunch, we headed to the pool to swim and play a game of Water Polo. Many campers joined in to play a challenging pool game.

Friday was the last day for Camp Whitehall of the summer. Camp Cementon joined Camp Jefferson at Jefferson Park for one last day of fun, games, laughter and a picnic. Campers and counselors enjoyed a catered and filling lunch from Samuel Owens. Afterward, both camps spent the afternoon swimming at the pool for one last time.

As week eight came to an end, Jefferson counselors announced the Campers of the Week, Liam and Emily, and Campers of the Summer, Nate and Jess. Way to go, campers! We had so much fun this year and are sad to see it end. But we can’t wait for summer 2017 to get here!
