A 23-year-old Sinking Spring, Berks County, man died after the 2003 Buick Century he was driving collided with a 2006 Freightliner Cascadia driven by Luis Bravo, 49, College Point, N.Y., around 3 a.m. on Aug. 11.
Upper Macungie police say the crash occurred in front of 10635 Hamilton Blvd.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said Bradley S. Mayer, of 2505 Simon Drive, Sinking Spring, was pronounced dead at 6:37 a.m. the same day at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
Grim said the cause of Mayer’s death is attributed to multiple traumatic injuries.
The manner of his death is pending the completion of the investigation, he said.
According to Upper Macungie Township police, Mayer was southbound (west) on Route 222, when for unknown reasons his Buick crossed over into the northbound (east) lane striking the tractor trailer combo head on.
Mayer was extricated from his vehicle and transported to the hospital, police say.
Neither Bravo nor his passenger Luis Cabrerra, 49, of Woodside Queens, N.Y., were injured.
Both men were wearing their seat belts.
Route 222 was closed in the area for approximately seven hours while crews investigated and cleaned up the scene, police say.
